The Gen Next Designers for Lakme Fashion Week Winter/ Festive 2016

It is time to watch out for the new crop of the fashion industry! A bunch of  fresh, talented and handpicked six young Gen Next Designers have been chosen by India’s most premier and prestigious launchpad, the Gen Next designer Programme of Lakmé Fashion Week. These new designers will showcase their designs at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016. WeddingFables gives you a peek at their bespoke individual styles that is set to hit the fashion scene soon.


#1.Abhishek Paatni:  Twenty nine year old Abhishek Paatni has worked as Creative Head at Mr. Button, was a style consultant at Blackberrys and is the founder of NOUGHT ONE (pret and bespoke). He plays fearlessly with experimental details in tailored finesse. Nought One has been spotted on influencers and has already featured in many magazines. Watch out for this one!

#2.Anupreet Sidhu: Besides having interned with the renowned JJ Vallaya, 25 year old Anupreet Sidhu from Chandigarh has experience in assisting various other designers. Her label “SIDHU JI” started in 2014 with the aim to create simple garments with a twist. She uses experimental techniques like laser cutting of unique materials - metal, wood etc to enhance the appearance of the garments.

#3.Diming Rubu: All of twenty four, she belongs to Delhi and has worked with labels like Huemn by Pranav Mishra and Shyma Shetty in the past. The theme of her label is THE MISSING PIECE  that depicts the  loss of humility and the search for it. It’s an oasis that many people look for forgetting that it is always there within us. It is just covered by us in sands of materialism, she says.The label offers semi formal, classical silhouettes and targets the young adults.

# 4.Gaurav Khanijo: His collection,MORPHEUS AW16, takes inspiration from the intriguing dragonfly and also the man who exhibits qualities similar to the dragonfly. A true Indian dandy,according to him, exudes a sense of power, poise, depth of character and nonchalance. The forte of his brand is the use of fine Indian handlooms to create modern silhouettes with a timeless vintage flair.The thirty two year old is from Delhi and  has been adesign Intern at Narendra Kumar in Mumbai, Bless in Paris and worked as a designer at Meridian Apparels, Tirupur.

#5.Paridhi Jaipuria:  Youngest of the lot, 23 year old Paridhi is a Head Designer at Jaipuria Vastra Udyog, Jaipur. She has been trained under Tarun Tahiliani in Ready-to-wear.Her brand focuses on the style that subtly draws from her traditional roots to garments that stand out due to the clean lines, careful detailing and relaxed silhouettes. The collection ‘Bunai’ focuses in building a sense of relationship between the clothes and the fine craftsmanship.  Expect a cultural freshness with chic modern aesthetics in apparel as well as patchwork accessorie

 #6.Vaibhav Singh: He has the experience of designing Men’s Wear for brands like Harley Davidson, All saints, True Religion, Red Skins at Apollo International Limited.His brand nurtures extremely detailed and well cut garments which is capable of captivating the viewer’s attention at the first sight.The unique and minute details sit perfectly with his peculiar signature which makes his garments visibly different in each aspect. The 29 year old designer hails from Gurugram.
