It is difficult to imagine so much of luxury smack in the middle of the jungle, but the unpaved but exciting road spotted with typical Tharu houses on either side with ducks quacking in the middle of road actually leads to one of the most luxurious jungle resorts - The Meghauli Serai Jungle Lodge by Taj Safaris. It is a destination that will make you want to revisit over time, where you would want to make memories. WeddingFables was invited recently to this hidden jungle resort tucked away in the middle of the Chitwan National Park.  I flew with wedding planner Shradha Malik of Vivaha-Wedding Solutions from Delhi to Kathmandu and from Kathmandu to Chitwan in one of those small planes that gives you the views of the Himalayas at a close range.

A smiling Arjun, our guide and naturalist for the next three days stood patiently waiting for us and soon we jumped in to the jeep ready for us. From then it was almost a drive of three hours before I could actually see the gates of Meghauli Sarai Taj Safaris. Almost the entire staff lined up to greet us with a local Nepali song lightening up the  environment, local refreshments were served and then we were escorted to the villas. The beauty of the resort, the intimacy and the privacy of the villas makes it a perfect place to have a private wedding, an amazing honeymoon and milestone celebration place. Here's my more detailed reason why I consider the Meghauli Serai, Jungle Lodge by Taj Safaris a fantastic place for all your unforgettable celebrations.

Why should you have your wedding here?

1 The 30 luxury villas here allows you to have a wedding that will be intimate and luxurious, because every event of your wedding will be carried out with fanatical details and because the food you would want your guests to enjoy will be cooked with the freshest of vegetables plucked from their own garden and sourced locally. Trust me it’s the most delicious and the guests will be talking about it for ages.

2 You can have the best mandap near the pool area that overlooks the serene Rapti River and the vast green jungles beyond it. With such a gorgeous backdrop it also serves as a stunning place for cocktails and reception to party the night.

3 Guests can go wild over the jungle, elephant and boat safaris. There's so much to do within the lodge itself - go for a walk, just breath in the fresh air, go sighting exotic birds or just get out for a drive in town, everything is beautiful refresh you, there's no way of tiring your guests here with so much of nature and beauty.

4 The boat safari on the Rapti River gives an opportunity to bond for your family and friends. It is calming because of its natural beauty and exciting because you will be sighting extinct animals and birds and that includes the ghadiyals and magarmachs. If you are a morning person the jeep safari pampers you with delicious breakfast spread on the hood of the jeep inside the jungle, that in itself is a 'wow' experience.

A place to Celebrate milestone occasions

Meghauli Serai also makes for an amazing place to celebrate your birthdays and anniversaries. Your private group of friends can be pampered at the spa with expert therapist with super curated menus to make you feel relaxed and rejuvenated.

A superb place for honeymoon

The poolside organises intimate dinners with candles and beautiful local flowers, it looks gorgeous in the evening and you can stay back to enjoy the after-wedding madness with a dinner admiring the beautiful sunset and Rapti River. A dip in the plunge pool together with your bethroed is an experience you will not forget in a hurry. The Lodge also organises a closer interactions with the natives of Chitwan- the Tharus by hosting dinners filled with local Tharu delicacies and you can actually mingle talk and dance with them all in the vicinity of the resort.

The Lodge staff does a beautiful job of a sundowner by the Rapti River on your way back from the safari. Watching the sunset with a glass of bubbly in your hand on the banks in a stunning setting is a memory you won't forget in a hurry.

During my stay I was pampered with a safari and a spa treatment every day, in fact even as the hotel guide opened the door of my villa, my eyes darted towards the bathroom- where a tub filled with rose petals and fragrant lit candles lay waiting for me. My spa experience began right there. What a welcome!
