You can't have enough of Jim Corbett National Park. It's the let's "do-Corbett-this -weekend" place to head to for Delhi people.  About five to six hours drive (depending on the traffic ) from the capital, Corbett is the place to be with nature and to breathe fresh air. So when an invitation from the eco- friendly resort Aahana came I accepted with a big smile. My lungs were going to dance with fresh air and who doesn’t need  time away from the pollution and hustle and bustle of the capital? It just doesn’t matter how many times you have visited Corbett, you always want to revisit. in fact I was revisiting The Aahana Resort after five years. The first time was when they were a pretty new resort on the map of Corbett in October 2016 and I was just getting into the digital world with  Even then their focus was all about being eco-friendly.  The focus hasn't changed since then although a lot has been added that made my visit more exciting and interesting.

But more interestingly the resort also hosts weddings if you are looking for a destination wedding which is not that far yet gives you space to bond with the family away from home.  Be warned though the government does not take kindly to loud music as we Delhites are used to.The place is also perfect for honeymoon if you love the mountains, the tranquility and love to sit out listening to birds with a cup of steaming hot tea in your hand. The resort has 10 residential block house  48 living units designed in the Victorian style architecture.  It uses much of the local products for its interiors to create a lavish luxury villas and suites.  The Ranger Suite where I stayed had a huge bedroom and a drawing room. It gave me access to the beautiful views of the jungle.

We were welcomed traditionally with music, garlands, tika and soothing drinks made with the local flower-Rhododendrons before being escorted to our suites. Since I had been travelling for more than five hours I was looking forward to the spa experience lined up for us as well as the yoga session the next morning. The signature spa treatment given to me was bliss and sheer indulgence.  The spa at the Aahana which is part of the naturopathy centre is beautiful and gives you a wonderful experience as the therapists are all local but well trained.

Apart from the spa treatment the day was relaxing with few of the local cuisines to be tasted at the restaurant, a live performance for dinner where a local boy belted out popular Hindi numbers and got our entire group shaking tapping their foot and dancing.  A group of fellow guests, Indian Israelis mostly from Mumbai, settled in Israel joined in, singing and dancing. Interestingly they spoke a bit of Marathi but conversed within themselves in Hebrew. The resort is passionate about its area and surroundings and is a keen participants in the welfare of the villagers surrounding it. We visited one of the school for girls under the patronage of the resort.

Six things to do if you are at the resort

Rise up early to see the beautiful birds.

Take a walk around the resort to see the amazing variety of plants that have amazing healing properties

Make sure you book an appointment with the naturist who will have beautiful  stories to tell you about surrounding villages and the plants and the animals

Book a yoga session. The well educated naturopath doctor can lead you with the basics that looks easy but are very effective.

Request for a few dishes of the local cuisine at the restaurant

And of course book a Tiger Safari which is what most guest visit Corbett for and pray that you are lucky enough to see the big cat crossing the road right in front of you  in the jungle
